A Sharing of Joyous Alignment

I recently had the enchanting experience of visiting the largest Lego store in the world right in the heart of downtown Sydney. It was like being transported right back into that childlike world of block building, pattern making and story-telling all at the same time.

Lego had not really been a part of my life since being at school but the memories were very much still there. In the middle of the store were several buckets filled with all sorts of bits and pieces with an entire area dedicated for children’s imaginations to run wild!

Seeing the inquisitive expressions and pure delight when the perfect piece fell into tiny ravaging hands was priceless and I think the parents were every bit as thrilled.

Lego has changed a lot over these past few decades from simple rectangle pieces to high tech designs that would challenge any adult who had the time to invest. There were no shortage of creative projects with the store brimming from floor to ceiling!

One very small and colourful character, however, captured my attention and I knew immediately that it would be travelling home with me on the plane. It was a small party pinata that could easily be pulled apart for all the joy to come pouring out and be celebrated.

Even though the instructions said for age eight and above, this was going straight to my dear friend, Donna for the building and bringing of joy in her newfound creativity. Donna and I have ridden the rollercoaster of parenthood from when our children were together in prep together right through to highschool graduation and beyond.

Like a lot of parents our age, Donna has discovered an appreciation for her own unique talents and abilities away from all the responsibilities of motherhood. She is someone I have always admired for her happy disposition and finding the silver lining when many others would have just given up. She is a lover of life and all it entails!

I knew straight away this little critter was for Donna as soon as I saw it there on the shelf. As per our usual routine of walking with extremely good coffee to follow, I presented her one morning with this special gift.

The absolute joy that burst forth was palpable and this was before it was even built! She excitedly showed the coffee man with an elation I doubt anyone could match even on the best of days! It was totally brilliant. Photographs were taken and sent to family. A number of humorous exchanges took place and the two of us enjoyed the rest of our morning like children who’d discovered buried treasure.

Assembled that very afternoon, the creature brought even more delight as it was filled and pulled apart in wonderment time and time again. You can’t help but smile when you see it.

I share this story here because it has so many beautiful messages. I could have fussed and overanalyzed buying it in the store but instead, I acted in that moment of instantaneous and joyous alignment. I never questioned any of it and the ripple effect will continue for a very long time.

These are the moments we alleviate ourselves of burden as it simply has no place to reside in such revelry. These are the moments where bliss becomes all encompassing and radiates at a frequency much higher than any of our woes or troubles.

How magical could our lives become if filled with more moments like these?
