A Sense of Belonging
As someone who very much likes and needs to spend time on my own, periods spent with others are truly valued when they uplift and inspire. Meaningful interactions are treasured for the warmth of conversation, the shared laughter and appreciation for the humanness of all life has to offer.
These moments may come with a call, a coffee or an unexpected encounter. They may be planned or spontaneous, a couple of hours or fleeting minutes in passing. Either way, they are gratefully and joyously accepted for the connection that they bring.
One of the many opportunities for social engagement is through online community groups that bring people together from all over the world for thought provoking and purpose filled conversation.
I’m very blessed to have celebrated almost five years of membership with the Sensitive Empowerment Community, founded and run by Julie Bjelland, a psychotherapist and nature lover who has built a nurturing and supportive space for highly sensitive people.
Following last week’s Meet and Greet get together, I was filled with a profound and deeply satisfying sense of calm and belonging. It is such a soul-nourishing experience to be in a space where collective energy is unquestionably palpable and so deeply felt.
It is incredibly validating to share experiences with like-minded people who genuinely understand and accept your needs, empathise with challenges, appreciate vulnerabilities and openly celebrate in your achievements, free from judgement and competition.
To carry this energy through the remainder of the day was something for which I was exceptionally grateful. It made me realise how essential it is to have this human connection, not only to raise individual frequency but also that of an entire community.
There were people at the meeting I’d been communicating with for years and had never had the opportunity of meeting. There were people of all ages and nationalities, most of whom I would never have had the pleasure of getting to know without being part of this amazing network.
Sometimes we actively seek out these opportunities and sometimes, they have a way of finding us. However it works, I do believe in universal synchronicity. It is our intentions that create movement and it is our frequency that holds vibration for creativity, learning, knowledge, fulfillment and growth.
The significant benefits of a stronger sense of connection through community are undeniable. It can literally be the lifeblood that holds us together during difficult times and a source of comfort, joy and support that is wholeheartedly cherished and embraced.
If you’re a highly sensitive person looking for opportunities to connect with others where you can cultivate friendships and flourish, I invite you to join the SEC family. Also, take a look at what’s in your local community for everyday experiences of heartfelt human connection. You may be delighted at the possibilities waiting to be discovered!
