Gloriously Naughty!
Ever had that scrumptous feeling of treating yourself to something truly wonderful but knowing you probably shouldn’t? Maybe it’s that secret bowl of dessert, a stolen day away at the beach, an all-too-expensive event or maybe it’s bringing home that cat!
This is exactly how I’m feeling after puchasing one of Elinor Trier’s creations and when I say shouldn’t, I’m referring to the dozen and one other things that needed paying. In fact, I was in the middle of doing my taxes and well and truly in need of a distraction, or as my daughter would say, dying on the inside!!
It was love at first sight for this delectable tea-faring cat. It’s Time For The Lovely Cup of Tea (shared with special permission) is a limited edition print from Eli’s Je Suis Wibbly-Wobbly collection that beautifully captures the complexities of neurodivergent experience.
Every time I look at this cat, I just laugh and laugh. It instantly makes me happy and brightens my day regardless of whatever chaos I might be standing in at the time.
I absolutely adore AuDHD artist, Eli Trier, who describes herself as “possibly a pile of cats in a sparkly trench coat”.
Her quirky sense of humour and down-to-earth honesty are exquisitely expressed in a vivacious use of texture and colour. One cannot help but be completely enchanted by her eclectic creativity.
Even her emails are an instantaneous source of joy – or free dopamine – as Eli likes to say!
I first had the pleasure of meeting Eli for an interview with the SEC Business Group, where we discussed how to grow a business that supports our creativity. The interview was so well received that it found a home on the blog and podcast as well as within the community. This is one of my all-time favourite interviews and was so much fun to put together.
A few weeks ago, Eli reached out and asked if there were any favourite works of art we’d like to see available as prints. Her level of enjoyable engagement and content creation is spot on. Not only do I read Eli’s emails – I actually look forward to seeing them in the Inbox. Now that’s an achievement!!
I’m looking forward with avid anticipation to this colourful cat turning up in the mail, having ventured all the way from Eli’s rooftop studio in Copenhagen. I’ve always longed to have a personalised space to express my own creativity and I’m taking the first real steps to bringing this to fruition.
I’ve realised how naturally this post flows from the previous, ‘Spontaneous, Yes!’. I don’t think it’s any co-incidence that this quirky source of cheerfulness showed up right after a most wonderful afternoon at the sunflower farm that was completely unexpected and so deeply held in heartfelt joy.
Thank you, Eli for a world of wonderment, celebration and pure fabulousness!
