A few words of encouragement

Written by Andrea Weber, 30 March 2026

We all know the feeling when nothing seems to flow! Obstacles appear in every direction and it seems impossible for things to work the way that they should.

When experiencing a hearty dose of this frustration, I’ve often looked to see what’s happening energy wise around me, what disruption has been created somewhere that’s left me shaking my head wondering what on earth is going on.

Many years ago, I used to work for a feng shui practitioner and I was always amazed by the correlations between what people were experiencing and what they surrounded themselves with in their daily lives, particularly in areas where they spent most of their time.

Looking around my own home at the moment, there is literally stuff everywhere while we’re trying to sort renovations. It’s certainly a work in progress but one that has gone on much longer than anticipated with delays and disappointment. It certainly hasn’t gone to plan and hasn’t been the best of experiences either.

I have a new appreciation entirely for anyone brave enough to renovate their home!

In all the chaos of things not working, however, I’ve realised that there are always things that can be done to enhance the energy of a space.

A few words of encouragement got me out of the funk that I was in and actually excited to see what I could be doing rather than being constantly frustrated with the things that I had no control over whatsoever.

I was recently asked the question, “Is there a space you could work on, somewhere that could feel really good when you see it?”

Well, perhaps there was. The weather was starting to cool so it was a great time to get outside and work on the gardens; something I had wanted to do for quite some time. Even though this wasn’t inside the home, I always feel better when working outside and the gardens bring in such a sense of joy and accomplishment.

Creating a new garden bed, fussing over cuttings, some well overdue repotting and dreaded weeding made the world of difference.

With this newfound enthusiasm, I then decided to find ‘small’ projects I could start working on inside. I had recently picked up a landscape print that was lying in amongst a pile of ‘give away for free things’.

The frame was sanded and painted and looks brand new. Not only did it spark the joy of creativity but my spirits are lifted everytime I look at the beautiful scenery that is now on my wall, none of which would have been possible had I not been in the ‘space’ to receive and make something wonderful.

Engaging in these few small things has brought home the message that there is always something we can do to make a difference; something we can do to ground ourselves in moments of uncertainty and take steps towards the bigger picture of what we’re trying to achieve. Sometimes a slight shift in perspective and some heartfelt action is all it takes.

You might be surprised at the projects waiting to be discovered!
